What is BR-DGE Verify?

A service for checking account names against the account information held by VISA.

  1. Using an existing network token (BR-DGE Card-on-File) for a saved card, you send the account holder's name to BR-DGE's Verify endpoint.
  2. BR-DGE finds the network token behind the Card-on-File and requests a crytopgram from VISA, with an ANI (Account Name Inquiry) request attached to check the name against the card issuer's scheme.
  3. VISA runs its own name matching algorithm and returns a Match (green), Partial Match (amber), or No Match (red flag).
📘

The account name being checked is not necessarily the same as the name printed on the card. It is the account holder name held by the issuer. For example, the card may display J. Smith, while the issuer account name may be John Alexander Smith.

Status of this feature

Phase 1 - August 2026

This phase has been released as of August 2026 and includes:

  • Verification of account name - Downstream services are used to check the account name provided against the cardholder name stored by the issuers, indicating whether it is a match, no match, partial match or no data provided.
  • Independent of payment flow - You can perform a verification check independently of a payment being made, so that it can be integrated at any point in to your own payment flow.
📘

The Visa check is performed as part of the Network Token API and so only work for cards where a Network Token exists.

Phase 2 - contents and date to be confirmed

This provisionally includes:

  • Smart Routing
  • Fraud-engine integration
  • Embedding Verify into payment flows
  • Integration to third party services
