How AFTs work at BR-DGE

  • AFTs are supported for card-backed payment instruments.
  • You flag a payment as an AFT and provide the associated sender, recipient, and funding data in your request to BR-DGE.
  • BR-DGE maps this data into whichever format the receiving PSP requires, so you integrate against one consistent BR-DGE API regardless of which supported PSP ultimately processes the payment.
  • BR-DGE returns confirmation in the payment response of whether the transaction was processed as an AFT, via the processedAsAft field. Go to Confirming an AFT payment for details.
  • An AFT payment only covers funds moving from the cardholder into your account. Any payout required to complete the funding transaction — for example, transferring the funds on to a named recipient — is handled separately.
  • BR-DGE does not apply any logic of its own based on the type of AFT, or on the sender's, recipient's, or card issuing country. The specific fields required for a given AFT can vary depending on these factors, but BR-DGE does not attempt to determine this for you — it simply passes through whichever fields you include in your request. Go to Processing a payment as an AFT for reasons why you should provide as complete a set of fields as possible.
