NEW - Account Funding Transactions (AFT)

An Account Funding Transaction (AFT) is a distinct transaction category recognised by Visa and Mastercard in which a cardholder's payment instrument is used to load or transfer funds into a non-merchant account, rather than to purchase goods or services. Common examples of AFT use include:

  • Topping up a digital wallet or prepaid card.
  • Funding a person-to-person (P2P) money transfer.
  • Loading funds into a trading, gaming, or e-money account.
